[Solved] Inconsistency of TOA with TX-RX distance
Hello
I noticed that on the scenario O1 there is a constant error of 3cm between the TOA of the LOS path and the distance between BS and UE.
More specifically distance(BS-UE) = TOA(BS-UE) * c + error, where c = speed of light and error = 3cm.
On the O2 dynamic scenario this error is even more pronounced. It can go up to 30m. Of course I consider only the paths where LOS=1.
Do you know why that may be the case?
Thanks in advance,
Anastasis
Hello,
I have checked the O2_dyn_3p4 scenario and I could not find a distance error in the order of 30 meters.
I have calculated the distance errors for all 1000 scenes, all BSs, and all user grids of the O2_dyn_3p4 scenario.
- If the wave propagation speed is wrongly assumed to be the light speed in the vacuum (free space), the max absolute error is in the order of a few centimeters and the mean absolute error is approx. 30 mm.
- If the wave propagation speed is assumed to be the light speed in the air (a valid assumption), the max absolute error is approx. 7 mm while the mean absolute error is approx. 2 mm.
- If we try to estimate the wave propagation speed used by Wireless InSite and use it in our distance error calculation, the max absolute error is approx. 0.5 mm while the mean absolute error is approx. 0.14 mm.
As for the O1 scenario, if you assume the wave propagation speed is either case 2 or case 3 from the three cases mentioned above, the distance error can reach the order of tens of micrometers.
May you please re-download the O2 scenario data and the generator to check if this issue still persists? thank you!
